How can i demonstrate that you get better odds of getting trips than a flush in texas holdem?

The thing is a friend of mine says that in holdem its easier to get a straight or a flush than to get three of a kind. I want to demonstrate that he is wrong , thank you.

How about this. Get a table together and deal the cards to ten positions face up. Then deal the flop, turn and river.

Repeat the process for a set number of times.

Count how many times the some one get's a set, straight and flush.

what is good texas holdem poker tournament strategy?

I am thinking about going down to vegas for fun to play in a couple of holdem tournaments. What are the best hands to play with to start and what is a good strategy to last long in a big tournament?

You can last a long time by folding most hands - however you are not likely to cash in a large tournament this way. Play your position, play aggressively, and get all of your chips in even when you have a slight edge. Pay attention to other players stacks - don't try to bluff a big stack, but you can sometimes bluff or push a small stack around depending on the size of the pot. If you play tight early you can take advantage later and may be able to buy some pots. One simple rule I try to keep in the back of my head: Play small pots with small hands, play big pots with big hands.

What is the best no limit texas holdem poker system for friendly games with friends?

September 26th, 2008

We play no limit texas holdem as a group of friends a few times a month, about 8-10 around the table normally. Play is pretty lose, but most people seem to know what they are doing. I'm wondering if anybody has a proven system of play that consistent takes the money home? =) We normally play for $5 each a game, then have 1st/2nd/3rd prizes… it is like a "sit n go" type of game, everybody gets 800 worth of chips for the start of each game.

I recommend reading Phil Hellmuth's poker book called Play Poker Like the Pros. Basic strategy comes down to only playing the top hands (any pair, AK, AQ) preflop and then calculating your odds after the flop comes down. When you have the best hand make sure to bet so that a hand that may be drawing for a flush or straight instead folds.

How many people can play in texas Holdem?

How many people can play in Texas Holdem?

ZCT is almost right here, i deal poker here in Vegas and most of the time you will See table with 9-10 players to start, but i have seen some it where a lot of people enter a tourney and they go 12 people per table. And Zct is almost right about the maximum number of players, but in poker you can never deal out the last card, the last card must stay in the deck, and should never be used as a burn card.

what is a good book on texas holdem?

September 22nd, 2008

Posted by admin in texas holdem | 9 Comments »

I've been looking for a good book on texas holdem, mainly to find the percentages on hands. Anyone got any ideas?

Not a book as such but probably more productive for you is a piece of software called 'World Class Poker'.

I'll paste the review below - you can get it from Amazon:

World Class Poker - Learn Online Poker From The Best

Don't just learn how to play online poker. Learn what to play, when to play, where and why. With the World Series of Poker 2006 just finished, poker players need to learn how to play better if they're to protect their bankroll.

The saying goes that Texas Hold'em, whether that be land-based or online poker, takes minutes to learn but a lifetime to master. It's certainly true that most people can pick up the game very, very quickly but almost all of them play badly - giving decent players an easy ride at the poker tables.

Online poker players who want to improve their game and start to make serious money at the game usually search the net for advice. Whilst most of these tips are useful, they mostly repeat the same basic information and can only take you so far. To really get your game into top gear you will usually need the help of someone who already knows and plays the game at the highest level and, unless you can afford to pay for the teachings of an WSOP champion who is prepared to share their knowledge, you're going to be out of luck.

This is where a new piece of software for your PC or Mac becomes a vital tool for all online poker players. World Class Poker with TJ Cloutier is a PC/mac-based poker game/tutorial. If you so wish, you can simply play the game as a standard poker game and even take your chances in the World Series of Poker. However, where the software really scores is that it's also a tutorial - a guide to improving your play.

The package contains two CD's filled with in-game expert play recommendations, loads of scenario tips, and numerous quiz questions with thoroughly explained answers, all from the world's top-winning poker player, TJ Cloutier. The replay mode allows you to see all your opponents' hole cards as well as each person's probability to make his or her hand. Includes no limit, limit and satellite tournaments, heads-up play, as well as Texas Hold'em, Omaha, 7 Card Stud, and 5 Card Draw games. The most comprehensive poker strategy tutorial ever created doesn't just teach you how to play Texas Hold'em, you'll learn what to play, when, where, and why.

Click here to get it from Amazon.com, priced $18.98:

Click here to buy World Class Poker from Amazon.co.uk, priced £22.49:

Hope that helps.

Your favorite texas holdem question on yahoo answers?

September 16th, 2008

Posted by admin in texas holdem | 3 Comments »

One question to do with no limit texas holdem that you thought was interesting, thought provoking,or just entertaining.

Plz dont post any of my questions.

That was a while ago (5 months actually) SABES99 post 12 questions in the row about several situation from WPT, WSOP I believe. That was some cool once. You also do the same thing but you don't want us to post any of your questions!

JUDASHERO have also good poker questions.

Now the annoy one are:

1) " Can somebody stacked me, just $5 would do it, please?" Those really kill me.
2) " Is online poker illegal in the US?" NO! (lol) that one is kind of sad, because if you're not into poker, It might be kind of confusing what to think about it. That's really to bad for poker.
2) " How to play poker?" Well, I'm sure you can guess what I think about that one.

Now you talk about favorite questions, but I have to add that I like to read many answers. ZCT, SINCITY, SABES99 and also of course DUNHATE235
