No, Aesoe is right. …
No, Aesoe is right. The chances that a overcard comes on the board 4 (same card/different suit) x 3(the amount of cards on the flop) x 2(to make it in percentage). This formula gives you around 48%. But the real formula should be 3 x 3 x 2 as for an overcard to create an overpair, someone need that card in their hands. Chances are therefor lower that you get beat on the flop.

It’s about …
It’s about calculating the odds. How can you calculate them in any other way, you don’t know what your opponent has, so youre calculating what is possible.
December 10th, 2008 at 12:00 am
This of course does …
This of course does not count flushes, straights, possibility of another 10 (a set), turn or river. So your chance of an over card (that your opponent with 2 overs) hitting is 37.5% on the flop.
December 10th, 2008 at 12:00 am
The math is so …
The math is so ing wrong… First of all, if you have all 4 suits as “possibilities” that means that your opponent doesn’t have them. So if an Ace/King/Queen come on the flop and your opponent does not have any of those, who the cares?? Realistically you have to “assume” that your opponent has 2 over cards (AK). Which means that you are down to 3 suits and 2 cards (in the case of a single person). 3 flop cards x 6 (3 of each card AAAKKK) / 48 (remaining cards) = 18/48 = 37.5%
